NYC:
Leaving for Warsaw today with Monika.
We've got a 6:55p flight out of Kennedy.
Change of time.
Change of clime.
I don't have any frame of reference for how Warsaw, or Poland for that matter, might be.
Not 'til we stopped and got a good map and guidebook last night did it hit me where we're going. What we're doing.
There's something about seeing the map of the place in which you'll soon find yourself which makes it all come alive. Not only the history of the topography itself (think of all that has happened right there! right there!), but also knowing that now its YOUR turn. Your turn to breathe that air. Your turn to look at that sky. Your turn to navigate those roads, bridges and rail to get to wherever it is that you want to go, to marvel at the experience of it all.
Who was here before me?
