Bird's Birthday

Happy birthday Charlie Parker.

Listened to quite a bit of the WKCR all-day broadcast of Bird recordings.

All you have to do to get more into Bird is listen to him. He is utterly unbelievable - consistently so. Head and shoulders above almost everyone he played with.

I've been thinking a lot about the cat.

I think I appreciate what he left behind more and more as time passes and I hear more and more music. His individuality shines through more and more.

Today is also the two year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which means it is the two year anniversary of Bob being buried in Michigan.
